Joey Logano – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Michigan Race Report

11-pure-michigan-400-spot_dkMiddletown’s Joey Logano qualified second in the Team Penske No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion for Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway. It marked Logano’s sixth time qualifying second in the 2014 season and his seventh front-row starting spot. Logano was able to jump to the lead on the initial start of the race and led the race’s first 21 laps before the competition caution flag waved on lap 20.

Waterford Speedbowl – NASCAR Whelen All-American Series 8/16 Results

Waterford-logo-350NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing returned to Waterford Speedbowl Saturday evening with a six-division racing card. Hometown driver Rob Janovic Jr. claimed the night’s SK Modified® victory, his first of the year. Bruce Thomas Jr. of Groton took his third Valenti Auto Mall Late Model feature win, Josh Galvin of Franklin won for the tenth time in the Street Stocks, and Ken Cassidy Jr. of Lisbon took his sixth Mini Stock win of the year. Brendon Bock of Franklin Square, NY won his first Speedbowl feature in the evening’s INEX Legend Cars race and Allen Coates of Ledyard recorded another win in the New England Truck Series at his home track.

Stafford Motor Speedway – NASCAR Whelen All-American Series 8/15 Results

stafford_speedway_logoStafford Speedway returned to NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing action with a Five-Star Series event on August 15th. Taking down NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly feature wins on the night were Keith Rocco in the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, Adam Gray in the 30-lap Late Model Feature, Nick Salva in the 20-lap SK Light feature, Norm Sears in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature, Andy Marchese in the 15-lap DARE Stock, and Cory DiMatteo in the 20-lap Legend Cars feature.

Stafford Motor Speedway – Joey Ferrigno Riding Hot Streak In SK Lights

stafford_speedway_logoThe 2014 SK Light season at Stafford Motor Speedway for Joey Ferrigno can be summed up as a season of two halves that have seen both the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Ferrigno’s season got off to a dismal start with wrecks in the first two races that left him sitting in 20th place in the point standings. But since then, Ferrigno has gotten his season turned around with four wins and a second place finish over the next eight races that has helped him climb back into the top-five of the point standings.

Stafford Motor Speedway – Dana DiMatteo Setting The Pace In Legend Cars

stafford_speedway_logoDuring the winter months, Stafford Motor Speedway announced that it was bringing Legend Cars racing back to its weekly program for the first time since the 1994 season. With the Legend Cars returning to Stafford’s mini-mile, it raised the question of who would be the car to beat. That question was answered early in the season by Farmington native Dana DiMatteo, who finished second and first in the first two races of the year.

Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park – Bonsignore Wins Earns 2nd Consecutive Thompson NWMT Victory

Thompson_logoJustin Bonsignore earned his second Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park victory this season behind the wheel of his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour entry after taking the late race lead and holding on through two restarts in the Budweiser King of Beers 150.

Kerry Malone led the way in NASCAR Whelen All American Series action with a convincing victory in the Sunoco Modified 30-lap feature event. Also picking up wins were Larry Gelinas in the Late Models, Eric Bourgeois in the Monster Mini Stock division and Corey Hutchings in the Xtra Mart Limited Sportsman division. Art Chartier won the Vintage Outlaw feature.
